I haven't spent any time on it, so don't go betting your shirt but this year looks to favour the last record breaker, from an early start to a late end with super cyclones and all the other in-betweens too -the
works.

We get more small tornadoes than any other known part of the world but I don't think we have derechos. We do have those massive clouds that form like giant eels and the same colour too, stretching from horizon to horizon.

The reason we don't have derechos is that these clouds reach from hill to hill and where the derechos occur there are no hills. So they build up much bigger. Note the striations over the rest of the sky on those dereched spells.

Overcast:
These are the ones we just had two of at the start of the year. In Britain they are cold spells with little precipitation. Fogs or drizzle mostly. Pressures are about 1016 to 1020 mb.

Cumulus is next to thunderous. One or the other for those spells. The rest speak for themselves. I'll have to get back to this with the one I forgot. 04:00, 10:00, 16:00 and 22:00. Shaky quaky IIRA.

And of course other peoples storms will have a deleterious effect.

Good luck, one and all.
