I am guessing (since I have no way of checking) that these phases all work out to be within an hair's breadth of each other in their results on the weather once the variables induced by North Atlantic "blockings" are reduced to the simple lunar scale I worked out years ago.

  1. The other problem with glaciation as a process of polished coruscation is that it is going to be most powerful and most frequent at the base of the cliff. So why are cliffs that shape?Their profile is upside down to the mechanics involved.A few moments cogitation will show you that logically there are no such things as cliffs if the above is true.Si?Que?And ye shall find.So why have you needed to be told something so bloody obvious? Are you stupid?

  2. From the above you could infer that I was suggesting that all the lunar phases are identical in some way or that all the weather charts produced for the above phases will be more or less the same. That is too ridiculous to refute. Here is something more ridiculous and it IS worth refuting:Originally posted by Wikipedia:

El Capitan is composed almost entirely of El Capitan Granite, a pale, coarse-grained granite emplaced approximately 100 mya (million years ago). A separate intrusion of igneous rock, the Taft Granite, forms the uppermost portions of the cliff face.A third igneous rock, diorite, is present as dark-veined intrusions.Along with most of the other rock formations of Yosemite Valley, El Capitan was carved by glacial action. Several periods of glaciation have occurred in the Sierra Nevada, but the Sherwin Glaciation, which lasted from approximately 1.3 mya to 1 mya, is considered to be responsible for the majority of the sculpting. The El Capitan Granite is relatively free of joints, and as a result the glacial ice did not erode the rock face as much as other, more jointed, rocks nearby.Nonetheless, as with most of the rock forming Yosemite's features, El Capitan's granite is under enormous internal tension brought on by the compression experienced prior to the [/b]erosion which brought it to the surface.[/b]These forces contribute to the creation of features such as the massive Texas Flake, a large block of granite slowly detaching from the main rock face about halfway up the side of the cliff.

To start with the granite is coarse and it has been ou there in a lot of cold weather.Granite is quite permeable and any water remaining on the rock will spall the surface, pock marking it and eroding it fairly quickly if the water freezes. What actually happened is that the shard of rock was thrown out of the ground in one big lump. You can see evidence of the same sort of thing in the galleries of all the fairly new mountains on the planet. It is the same engine thrusting them out that can lift thousands of millions of tons of particulate into the sky almost into outer space in one or two days and that has happened fairly frequently in living memory. You can easily work out how much energy it takes. In fact the raising of the cliff is easier as it doesn't have to melt the rock to turn it into cloud. And it doesn't have to throw it 10 miles and more either.Just five miles and so many hundred feet will do it nicely.
